How Bathtub Manufacturer Made Acrylic Bathtub

One of the most popular bathtubs available in the market is the Acrylic bathtub. They are cost-effective, their manufacturing process is easy, and they are durable. So, have you ever wondered how your acrylic bathtub was made? Here is how they are made.

Like other plastic bathtubs, the process of manufacturing the acrylic bathtub begins with assembling the proper materials – namely the petrochemicals. These petrochemicals are heated and mixed with stabilizers, resins, fillers, dyes, and other chemicals. Once that is done, a reaction occurs that converts the substance to a polymer composition. This polymer composition is then dried into acrylic sheets.

Reinforced bathtubs are incorporated with glass, which serves as a strengthening material. Small lengths of glass are cut above a resin paste bed on the acrylic sheet, after which another layer of filler is added, which envelops the glass completely. The reinforced sheet is then processed through a series of rollers to evenly mix and compress the materials.

Once the material thickens, the protective film, which covers the material, is removed. The sheet is cut into sections depending upon the measurements required by the design of the mold. Giant vacuums are used to suction the soft acrylic sheet into the shape of the mold.

Once the mold is cured, the shaped acrylic material is removed and set aside. Protective layers of fiberglass resins and finishes are then sprayed on as a protective layer. The acrylic bathtub is also laminated to prevent air bubbles and ensure durability.

All the rough edges are trimmed off and the openings for drains and fixtures are inserted. Brackets and plumbing accessories are then added before the finished product is sent to packaging.

Acrylic bathtubs look classy and stylish. They come in various designs, styles, and colors. Some of the acrylic bathtubs are also fixed with bathroom showers to provide dual usage.
